About the Artist

Hello, I'm Nishchala, the artist behind Nishu's Palette. I'm based in the UK, and I make handmade art in oil pastel, ink and paint: glowing sunsets over the sea, intricate mandalas, and bold, patterned portraits of animals and faces. Every piece in this shop begins as an original I created by hand.

My Journey
I learnt art from my mum, who is an artist herself. She was my first teacher, and she taught me the foundations of drawing and painting and how to look closely at colour, pattern and detail. Her passion for art is the reason I started making my own, and I'm very grateful for that start.

Over time I began exploring my own style, moving between soft, blended oil pastels for skies and water, and fine ink work for mandalas and patterns. Making art slows me down, and it's where I feel most calm and most myself.

My Mum, Artist Susmitha Dhruva Chitradurga
My mum is the artist behind Susdhruu Arts (@susdhruu_arts), and her work is widely recognised across the Middle East. She is my biggest inspiration, and I'd love for you to see her work too: instagram.com/susdhruu_arts

My Work

  • Oil pastel sunsets and seascapes: These are about light and colour: fiery skies, glowing suns and moving water. I blend and layer the pastel to make the colours glow.
  • Ink mandalas: Each mandala is drawn slowly, one line and one detail at a time. They're calming to make, and I hope they're calming to look at.
  • Patterned portraits and animals: Faces, giraffes, lions, elephants and more, filled with pattern and touches of gold, with each part of the design having its own detail.

From My Studio to Your Home
My paintings are available as art prints, posters and everyday items such as tote bags. Each product is printed on demand, so your order is made just for you, and it helps avoid waste. I check my artwork carefully before it goes into the shop so the colours match the original as closely as possible.
